VIDEOGRAPHER

Hull ~ Part-time

A little about us

We are the leading wedding videographers for the Hull area and we specialise in wedding videography, our weddings are what you would be mainly working with and this would include every element of the wedding days filming. We do travel around Yorkshire for our events and have in the past been involved with clients from further reaches of the UK, as far as Cornwall.

Our work

The work schedule for this position varies and shifts which you are given may have a few weeks between them, a full schedule for the season would be given to you at the start of the year. The position would very much suit a student in full-time education who is looking for part-time shifts for experience in the industry alongside their studies. You would be classed as Self-Employed and contracted by EverAfter Videography, thus you would be required to file your own tax-return and self-assessment - this is very simple to do for anyone who hasn't done this before.

Our usual work days consist of early mornings to late nights, which are extended hours compared to your average job but are not on an everyday basis so there is time to rest in-between. During this time we’d be on our feet most of the day, shifting equipment around, talking and mingling with guests or going out and filming landscape and venue scenes. It is tiring work, but incredibly rewarding being such a big part of someone's special day, just be prepared to be tired by the end of the day!

Our most popular package is our Diamond package, which covers the full day for the Bride and Groom, from hair and make-up in the morning up until their first dance in the evening. So most of your work days will start during the wedding preparation around 9am. We’d start by heading to the venue and getting setup, filming their décor and the outside of the venue. We’d then head over to either the hotel where they were staying, or to their home. We’d film their preparation for the big day and set-up any staged poses etc.

During the day we will be filming the ceremony and speeches of the wedding, this includes the setup of microphones, tripods and any additional lighting that may be required. Throughout the day you will be supplied with and in charge of your own camera, this will bring the responsibilities of checking for correct focus/lighting/audio etc. And ensuring that you capture the correct scenes and angles required by the day. We would discuss this before every wedding and any more unusual angles that we may require would be checked and discussed before we needed to produce them.

As we move into the evening celebrations this is when you’ll need to be aware of your surroundings during filming, it will require less tripod work and more moving around filming ‘what you see’ – by this I mean everything is much less scripted, we film what the guests are doing and anything extra that the couple may have organised for their day. We also conduct 1:1 interviews with the guests, you’d be required to lead these, so an outgoing and confident nature would be required. These are simple little anecdotes or tokens of good luck given by the guests, we setup a camera in a quieter room and bring the guests in a few at a time to give messages and stories on camera.

The end of the night brings the first dance and the cutting of the cake, some couples may also decide to have fireworks etc. organised for their day, after these are finished is when our working day ends, this tends to be around 10pm. We will then pack everything back into the car, say our goodbyes and return home.

A smart outfit is required for filming days, something which you can easily move in whilst still looking professional as a representative of the company at our weddings. For longer filming days such as the Diamond packages, food is typically provided by the venue, I would let you know beforehand if this wasn’t the case. You’d be working on an hourly payroll which would be discussed with you upon application.
